LET’S MAKE IT TANGIBLE

A whole month.
A simpler number.

Here’s the idea: start with your monthly plan, take out recurring expenses, and divide what’s left across the month.

What goes into the calculation?

Your monthly spending cap is the amount you choose to budget for the month. Recurring expenses are the regular costs already included in that cap, such as rent, a phone plan or a transit pass. Subtract those costs once to find the part available for everyday purchases.

For example, a $2,400 cap minus $1,200 in recurring expenses leaves $1,200. In a 30-day month, that is a starting allowance of $40 a day. The same plan in a 31-day month starts at about $38.71 a day. Choose the actual month length in the calculator.

A starting allowance changes as you spend.

The calculator shows a simple full-month illustration. In Daili, expenses you log and the balance carried from earlier days change what is left today. With a $40 daily allowance, spending $30 leaves $10 to carry forward; spending $50 carries a $10 shortfall into the following day.

A larger allowance tomorrow does not mean your monthly cap increased. It means you have used less of your plan so far. The app also shows your spending pace over longer periods, so you can check the month as well as today.

Keep the example useful.

Include each expense in the appropriate place. Counting a regular bill in both recurring costs and everyday spending would count it twice. If recurring expenses exceed the cap, the calculator asks you to adjust the example instead of presenting a spendable daily amount.

This result is based only on what you enter. It does not check your bank balance, pending payments or whether a purchase is affordable. The Android app adds dated plans, recorded expenses and rollover to the starting idea shown here.
